Set up a TV for MSign

Every TV needs two things: the internet, and a way to open MSign. Pick the option that fits your TV, get it showing its code, then connect it from your phone or computer.

Option 1: the MSign app on an Android TV box or stick (recommended)

Best for always-on screens: it starts by itself when the TV turns on, keeps the screen awake and saves videos on the device.

  1. Plug an Android TV box or stick into the TV and connect it to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  2. Install the MSign app. Your MSign contact can install it for you, or send you the app file to open with a USB stick (allow “Install unknown apps” for the file manager when asked).
  3. Open MSign from the TV's home screen. It shows a 4-digit code.

Option 2: any smart TV or stick with a web browser

Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV (Silk browser), Linux signage boxes, and most streaming sticks work.

  1. Open the TV's web browser.
  2. Go to https://www.msigntv.com/tv — on most smart TVs, typing just the site address is enough: it jumps to the player by itself.
  3. The TV shows a 4-digit code. Set the browser to open this page when it starts, and turn off the TV's sleep timer.

Connect the TV to your account

  1. On your phone or computer, sign in to MSign and go to TVs → Add TV.
  2. Type the code the TV shows. MSign shows you the TV it found.
  3. Give the TV a name (like “Front Counter”), pick its location, and press Connect TV.
  4. In a few seconds the TV leaves the code screen. Choose what it shows: a playlist, a photo or video, or a web page.

The code stays on the TV until it is connected, so there is no rush to type it.

If something isn't right

  • The TV shows “Offline” in MSign: check the TV is on, MSign is open, and the internet works. Unplug the TV or stick for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Offline TVs keep playing what they already have.
  • “Check this box's date and time”: set the correct date and time in the TV's settings.
  • A web page shows blank: some websites don't allow being shown inside other pages. Try it with Preview in MSign first.
  • The TV is in the wrong account or needs a fresh start: in MSign, open the TV and choose Disconnect, then connect it again with the new code.
